First Ever Red Rose Car Show at Tulpehocken

Saturday, October 5, 2019

9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m

961 Tulpehocken Road, Richland.

The show is open to antique and classic cars, hotrods, trucks, truck tractors, farm tractors, small lawn and garden tractors and motorcycles. Registration forms are available at the church and  you may also register the day of the show.

ENTERTAINMENT: Not only do you get to see some great cars, trucks, tractors and motorcycles, and eat some great food, but you also will hear some amazing music by Ricky and The Rockets from noon to 3:00 p.m. DJ Gary Althouse will also be available from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Bring your own chairs to sit and enjoy the music. Food will be served in Wistar Hall where there will be plenty of seating at tables for your convenience. Soups, sandwiches, drinks, popcorn and ice cream will be available. Coffee and donuts will be available early in the day. There will also be a display by D. McNutt Art Studio, Wildlife Artist

Church members will also be available to give tours of our beautiful sanctuary and share Tulpehocken’s history dating back to 1727.

WHY? Because we think it would be a fun, community event and will be used as a fundraiser for the church, the proceeds of which will be used for mechanical upgrades to the church parsonage (built in the late 1700’s), now the home of Pastor Mario Madden and his family. Upgrades to include installation of a natural gas heating system and a new hot water heating system and possible future air conditioning to the home.

WANT TO HELP? The easiest way to help is to promote this event with your friends and family, whether it be to register a vehicle to show or bringing the whole family to the car show.

While there is a committee organizing the event, we would like to see this be a church wide project; if you want to physically help, volunteer your services to any committee member. We will find something for you to do; from helping prepare food the day before the show, helping to serve food the day of the show, helping to park cars, whether the show cars or spectators’ cars, collecting and disposing of trash, or just being there that day to direct visitors around your church and assisting in providing a friendly atmosphere to our community visitors and guests. All members of our congregation will be hosts!

WANT TO BE A SPONSOR? Sponsor Forms are available at the church.  Please complete the form and place it in the sponsor form box located on the credenza (behind our weekly greeters) located in the downstairs hallway, along with your check payable to Tulpehocken UCC, or you may give your sponsorship (and the completed form) to Bob Schaeffer. All sponsorships of $50.00 or more will be listed and announced the day of the car show.

OR HELP BY MAKING A DONATION: Perhaps you merely want to make a smaller donation to help defray expenses and also benefit the cause – the mechanical upgrades to the parsonage. On that same credenza in the downstairs hallway (behind where the greeters greet us) there will be a container for donations; cash or checks payable to Tulpehocken UCC.

A FINAL WAY TO HELP: We hate to even think of bad weather for our Red Rose Car Show, but it is always a possibility. In that event, we ask that each member be prepared for a soup sale Sunday,  October 6. We will have soup for sale, by the quart,  after church that day; we may also have some other food items available as well. Please come prepared to buy but, better yet, pray for a beautiful day!

We are hoping for a great and welcoming event for the community.
